THE HISTORY OF COWPER CHURCH
The Cowper Memorial Congregational Church in Dereham, Norfolk, was built in 1874 on the site of poet William Cowper's last home, where he lived and died, serving as a tribute to the famous hymn-writer and poet. Replacing an earlier chapel, the Gothic-style stone church, designed by E. Boardman, features significant stained-glass windows, including one depicting the Good Samaritan, and houses a magnificent pipe organ, creating a tranquil space for worship and reflection. Cowper Church is a listed building, it's characterized by its stone construction, Gothic style, and impressive stained glass, including a central window overlooking the marketplace.
